So the Contour Im picking up thursday needs front tires. Winter is coming up, and Ive got a set of snows from my previous cars that Ive kept- first on the CV, then my grand prix. The size is 215/70/15.

Now Ive read that Contour 15's should fit the SVT brakes, but will this tire be to tall and rub(outside of full lock, when I assume it does)? I'd like to put these to use, rather then spend the coin on another new set.

when i first bought my contour it had 215 65 15 on it and the rubbed when turning.

i have 185 70r 15 on mine. if it's on a 15in. rim it shouldn't rub.

a 215/70/15 is over 1.5" taller in overall diameter than a 185/70/15. the 70 is not a specific height, but rather a ratio. in the case of the 215, a 70 series gives a sidewall height of ~5.9", while on a 185 width tire the 70 series gives a sidewall height of only ~5.1".

you can play with and compare tire sizes using this calculator

Hmmm, thanks.

Not bad then- I may give it a shot. If not, Ill need the 15" wheels for snows anyway!
