hey guys im glassing a custom sub box that goes behind the center console in the back seat, but i need to know where i can bolt it down.

am i able to drill straight through the firewall (the hump on the ground in the back)?

or can i drill in the area just underneath the bench?

the firewall is inbetween the pass area and the engine so are you talking about drilling inbetween the back bench and center console?

yeah im confused too..

Either way, if you want to run a power wire from the engine to the cabin, you can pull the grommet going into the firewall right behind the cruise control module, there is a hole in the firewall right below the arms that control the windshield wipers, its actually covered by a piece of plastic/tape, just jam a screwdriver through it, and run your power wire, its how I have done every contour I have owned, took me like 10 minutes to run the power wire.

Guys he is talking about the hump in the floor for the rear seats. I'll take a look under my car in a little while and come back and edit in what I find seeing as no one else is helpful...

posting clarifications help:shrug: I wouldnt care to go look but im at work and I prob cant see much with as low as the car is lol:crazy:

Mmm... as far as I can remember there is a gas tank, brake, gas and evaporator lines routed in that "hump". Unless you have a clear view of what is under (drop the tank) I would not drill.

yes, now that it was clarified thats what I would say too.

+1. The gas tank is definitely occupying much of that space. The only way I would take a chance drilling is if you went from underneath so you KNEW what was there. But that is probably a LOT of work just to secure some audio equipment, so I would try another route.

obviously the gas tank is there. but if one was real careful in drilling the hole, just enough to go through the sheet metal he could then put the bolt in from underneath the car and secure it from inside. just a thought

I understand why people are leaving this site everyday. most of the people on here have a my :censored::censored::censored::censored: don't stink attitude. thats why i have been here for 8 years now and only have a few posts. i mainly communicate through back channels with people who dont have that attitude. but anyway back on topic. berkel why dont you crawl under the car and look around. the hump in the floor is where the exh goes. the tank is under the seat. i am sure if you have the capability to make the custom box you can figure out a way to mount it.

If you don't want to chance the mounting use the rear bolts for the front seats. Those are heavy duty and gives you two bolts on each side to mount it down.

 I don't know why alot of people have to act like a douche

But it was a valid point that the gas tank is underneath where you are drilling! I think in the future pictures would be worth a thousands words! Not to mention I want to see the box you're making!

Also, if you can get a bolt in where you drilling you should be able to get a slat of wood in there as well. So put a block behind the metal so you know when you see wood shavings you know to stop drilling!

Another way is to get the bit collars that use a set screw to stop the bit at a set height. Sheet metal is like 1/16" of an inch, so just put a collar on the tip of the drill bit and your set!

Good Luck!

Jesus Christ chill out, I wasn't being a dick at all, hence the huge LOL and

thanks a ton guys, finishing up the box this week so i'll just think of another way to mount it. it'll stay where it's at.. but if i ever got in a crash i'd hate for a 40lb box to hit me in the back of the head :nonono:
