Ball joint pinch bolt stuck

Hey all, quick question. In process of inspecting a cv joint/wheel bearing problem. My pinch bolt for ball joint is stuck, I have the nut off, but the dumb t-55 bolt is not moving and is trying to strip. My question is this: Is the bolt threaded into the knuckle, or can I just pound it out with a hammer? IIRC, it is not threaded, but wanted to make sure before I started the braodside. :laugh:

It is not threadded, but before beating it to death, I'd try some PB Blaster. Soak it good with the PB, let it sit a bit, then put the nut on FLUSH to protect the end of the threads and smack it with a heavy ford tool. (Using too light of a smacker will not do the trick.) You might also put a pry across the knuckle under the arm to assist.

Best if you post a pic ...... I'm not sure what T55 bolt your referring to....... Knuckle to control arm ball joint?

Thanks Aussie. Had it soaking all night and day, and the nut is already flush. Gettin' the 3 lb. hammer ready. Appreciate the feedback.

Sometimes relieving pressure from the ball joint in its socket helps. A jack under the knuckle maybe.

I just had this same issue and it didn't budge until I did that.

Lots of PB Blaster, some heat, and a big F'n hammer works wonders. Bolt is out, and so is the ball joint.
