Anaerobic sealant on slave cylinder???

I actually went to napa today to check the stuff out, it's $19.00. I figured it wasn't absolutely necessary either, since they also claim you have to use it with blue thread lock, and I've never read about needing any activator for that either...

the packaging of both products would have you thinking it's an absolute necessity though, they dont say anything like "if it's below XX degrees celcius, prepare surface with activator"

I find it a little irritating though that ford decided to save maybe 50 cents per unit for the o-ring on the TOB and that the end user winds up buying potentially 40 dollars in adhesives just to do the job of the 50 cent o-ring whilst changing the slave cylinder/input shaft seal, because they also decided both of those items should be intrugle to the TOB assembly, which is supposed to be replaced when you change a clutch. it's as if they were engineering it so the clutch would be a dealer only kind of situation or something ;)

thanks for the link though, dont know why it didn't occur to me to look at the permatex website, dur...

so I'm wondering, whats the cure time for the sealant in the summer without the activator? I stuck two beer cans together with it last night as a test ans the stuff still hasn't set up...

I'd hate to get this thing all together and find out I should have just paid the 20 bucks for the activator, but I've only got 11 dollars till friday and I need the car together as quick as possible because right now nobody in the household has any transportation.

so should I throw it together now, or wait till friday?

[edit]

well I put it together, we shall see how it goes, any body remember the part number for the axle seals on these? I have enough left to get them and put them in while the trans is out, which will be much easier than trying to tap a block of wood with a hammer next to the precat...
