I have looked around and couldn't find much info on my specific code.

9-1

In case I'm not reading it right - here is a quick vid of the flashing light.

Looks like 19 to me. Airbag restraint control module memory full. Did you ever get into a fender bender and the airbag deployed or did not deploy?
I think you need a new airbag restraint control module.

"LFC (lamp fault code) 19 = RCM (restraint control module) Crash Data Memory Full.
Action To Take = INSTALL a new RCM"

Hmm.. Wierd. I know the car has been in at least 1 or 2 accidents. The radiator core support is scratched up, the plastic behind the grill is white, and the drivers side fendor isn't perfectly aligned. When doing the transmission swap I also found junkyard paint on the passanger side cv & strut.

Now to the fun part - the car is a 2000 - so I believe the airbag stuff is under the center console on my car. Anybody ever replaced one of these? Could I get one of these modules from a 98 and expect it to work? Even if that car has deployed airbags?

I wonder what the junkyard price is compared to a dealer price..

Here is something to confuse you. For the 2002 model Ford Taurus vehicles, LFC 19 is

19 Restraint System — Air Bag Status (Driver Front Air Bag Circuit Failure)

I don't know if your vehicle was replaced with a different airbag control module or not.

Would it need to be replaced? I'm wondering if there is a way to flash the memory clean. I know the dealership can hook up a diagnosis tool - but they charge a 100+ fee just to diagnose the problem. I wonder what kinda deal I can get if I tell them exactly what I want done.

I honestly doubt they will just do what you want. They will probably be worried about the liability when it comes to something like an airbag. The smart thing to do is to send it in, and let them fix it (if you cannot diagnose exactly what the problem is and fix it yourself). Sorry, don't have a cheap and easy solution for you in this case.

Crap - well - I'll call my local dealership - Steve works there  - and see what can be done...

Thanks for your help - I really apreciate it. Maybe someone else will chime in -

From 1999 Ford Model Windstar,

Pinpoint Test C: LFC 19/DTC B1231 — RCM Crash Data Memory Full

Normal Operation
WARNING:
The restraints control module (RCM) orientation is critical for correct system operation. If a vehicle equipped with an air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) has been involved in a collision in which the center tunnel area has been damaged, inspect the mounting and bracket for deformation. If damaged, the RCM must be replaced whether or not the air bags have deployed. In addition, make sure the area of the RCM mounting is restored to its original condition.
WARNING:
The RCM must be replaced if the air bag modules have deployed.
WARNING:
Clearing DTC B1231 will potentially remove all record of the crash event.
When the air bags are deployed during a collision, the restraints control module (RCM) will flash a lamp fault code (LFC) 19 on the air bag indicator and store a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1231 in memory. The LFC 19 and DTC B1231 indicate that a crash has been recorded by the RCM.

Possible Causes
Crash data memory full is caused by a crash event that deployed the air bags.

Wow - that crazy. That means my airbags have deployed before.. Nothing showed up in the carfax though.. Thats for your continued searching.

Actually, I read somewhere, sometime ago that the airbag control module memory can get "full" even without deployment of the airbags. Apparently, each time there is a front end collision which does not deploy the airbag, the "incident" is saved in the module.

Of course, if the airbag deployed and the airbag control module is not changed (the instructions do require a new module to be installed after an airbag deployment), the airbag control module can eventually show the 19 code (even if it did not show the code immediately after the airbag deploymen).

Well - by looking at the half assed job they did fixing the car - I would suspect that they didn't touch the module.

Talked to Steve at Tousley - they retail 120+ - can score on for ~90. I'm going to search around CEG and see if I can't find a car without deployed airbags that I may be able to get a RCM from.
