A/C Noise... Could something have happened at the paint shop????

Ok. This is a two part question. About 3 months ago, my a/c went out. It was determined to be an accumulator. I had it replaced. Up until yesterday, I was freezing in the car as it was blowing very cold air. Loved it!! Yesterday I started noticing a "whining" noise. It disappears when I turn the air off. What portion of the a/c could this be coming from? My next question. Last week I had my front bumper repainted. They did it on the car at a paint shop. The bumper turned out great, but when I lifted the hood I noticed overspray all in the engine compartment. Is it possible that paint got into some part of the a/c which caused this noise to start?? Sounds stupid but I recall a few years ago when I used gunk to clean the engine compartment of my truck and I sprayed it in the alternator. A week later I had a whiney noise and they told me the gunk stripped away the grease out of the bearings. Any answers on the noise and if it could have something to do with overspray are appreciated!!

Could be paint contamination of the AC clutch. Do a visual check of the compressor and see if it has paint on the front part by the pulley.
