I searched and nothing useful came up. Does anyone know how to remove the power antenna nut thingy? I need to replace mine and so far I have managed to bugger it up a little trying to get the thing off so I can replace the mast. Is there a trick or a special tool I need? Thanks in advance. I have the replacement ready to go but I don't want to ruin the fastener thing-a-ma-jig. Grrrrrrr!

I've used a flathead and a rubber mallet in the past. The problem with using a wrench, vice-grips or something of that nature is that your compressing the ring against the threads...and thus, you screw the thing up. Try letting some PB blaster soak in a bit then try to ease if off with either a screw driver or a spanner. You could also call your local checker or autozone...some of them still loan tools, especially if it is just in the parking lot, and they might just have to one you need.

I used a rag and some good pliers. Not a fun job at all when you are worried about messing that piece up. At first I tried using the notches but I kept sliding off and messing them up so eventually I used the rag for protection around the entire piece and twisted it off that way.

if you don't use the proper tool be very careful of sliping with what ever you are using and scratching your paint :blackeye:
