Fuel Shut Off?

Alright, I hadn't really ever taken my CSVT over 6000rmp's before the other day and when I did its like the fuel shuts off at about 6300rmp's completely. Its not like it is backfiring or making any kind of irregular sounds, it just stops. I let my dad drive it too and he thought the same thing. Is there any reason that it is doing this? And could this be a major problem?

Also I got to thinking, Don't the 3.0L's shut off around that rmp range? I'm not for sure if I don't have a 3L instead of a 2.5L. I am almost positive that I have an upgraded clutch as well. The car was totaled by the origonal owner. Then it was bought totaled by a detailer. Then I bought it from the detailer after he fixed the damage. Is it possible that the origonal owner put a 3L in and I have been thinking that I have a 2.5L this whole time, or is there just something going on with my car? I haven't checked the numbers on the block yet but I am going to.

SVT redline is 6,750 RPM's and fuel shut off at 7,000 RPM's. It's all controlled in the PCM. Doesn't have anything to do with the block itself.

So a 3L SVT will have the same fuel shut off as a 2.5L SVT, unless the PCM has been adjusted with a tune.

Then why is it shutting off so soon. I noticed that it was doing it somewhat the other day and I just installed a superchip and it is very apparent now. I thought that the superchip raised the redline but so far it seems to have lowered the fuel shut off...Someone just please tell what is going on.

So unplugged the Superchip and see if the fuel shut off increases.

Also, has the tach needle ever been played around with? (i.e. aftermarket gauge overlays)

you need to plug a OBDII scanner in that can read engine rpm to make sure that you know when the fuel cut off it being hit ... the tach can be wrong and you need to veryify this first, also take the superchip out and see what it does ...

It does the same thing without the superchip. I haven't ever messed with the tach but I don't know about before I had it. And how do I get my hands on one of these scanners?

well auto parts stores have them. but the kind you need is a bit more (i think). a repair shop would have it and scan it for you but at a price of course.
