No Reverse!?

I was not able to get into reverse today for the first time ever. I recently changed my fluid and the gear selector bolt and I am wondering if something else came loose. I searched the forums and checked the obvious; shifter cables inside the cabin and out. Nothing is hindering the movement of the black device on top of the shift tower. 1st through 5th gears work flawlessly. No grinding noises or crunches. I did manage to get it in reverse twice by playing with it.

What could it be? I am hoping it's just a cable adjustment. Your thoughts?

My brother had this same problem.. was in the shop for over a month and they couldn't find the problem. Ended up ripping apart the tranny and replacing all the essentials. Costed him over a grand :crazy:

Sucks. They tried EVERYTHING and couldn't fix it.

Try going to 4th, and then to reverse. Does it magically go right in? :laugh:

Today it went into reverse with no problems. It seems to be intermittent. I hope I don't have to replace it. I will try and adjust the cables and see if that solves the issue. Thanks for your reply.

Well, my reverse issue magically went away. Knocked on some wood and hopefully it stays working like it should. I did not adjust anything. Weird. I just thought I'd let you all know.
