Ok....so I just sawed off the main cat and all the resonators....i'm going to a shop 2morrow to get them to throw a straight pipe on there and then some straight flow mufflers...any reccomendations? Only reason i'm doing this is cuz i'm a cheapo and i'm not gunna spend 600 bux on exhaust....(even tho i spent 1200 on it for the S2000) lol. Should i try to get custom 2.5" if they will do it? Anything specific I should know?

haha....i just want the most performance gains....I'm used to an s2000 with no cat and cat back exhaust, couldn't get much worse sounding than that? lol....If it all fails tho...I will get some kind of performance catback exhaust. Is there a way to make this sound good doing it custom?

Lol why would I lie...it's up for sale....too much money on the insurance and payments...so now i'm messin around with the svt while it's getting sold :). So anyways....could I get some advice here or are you clueless?

Thanks man :). Does kinda still sound like a wet fart tho? but...not bad. I'm trying to message you on aim. And thanks for the welcome...:-x

our car having the duratec with the wrong exhaust will rasp like hell. Magnaflows are legit and sound awesome, but you need a cat to synthesize the rasp. I have Borla Cat-Back with WR headers/y-pipe..Mine sounds really really really deep..I love it

Well i did it, sounds pretty deep but a little metalicy at the higher rpms. Thinking of doing some different mufflers...how restrictive are our stock mufflers?

if YOU REALLY HAVE the s2k ur talkin about it.. leave the contour alone!!

ohhhh this is sooo ture. I started out with my mystique(first car i ever owned). Then i bought my camaro. I REALLYYYYYY REALLLLLY wish i had left the mystique alone. No joke do your self a favor leave it alone

Well so far I don't regret it...except when the exhaust is cold...sounds horrile...but when it's warmed up it's not so bad. I notice a small change in mid range rpm hp and torque

Here are my trials and tribulations with different exhaust setups:

1. No Resonator with both main and pre-cats w/stock mufflers. This setup had a LITTLE rasp when cold but sounded nice when warmed up. On both low and top end I felt a slight power gain.

2. No Resonator, no main cat, stock mufflers. This setup was a little louder than above and had much more rasp. More top end, less low end power. I don't recommend this route to anyone.

3. No main cat, 2" straight through resonator (the kind with the tiny half cups inside) no stock rear mufflers. Sounded very mean, great top end power, but extremely loud.

4. No main cat, Magna-flow XL turbo muffler where the resonator used to be, no stock rear mufflers at the back and man, it sounds really, really nice. I feel both gains on low and top end power. Most importantly, not too loud and zero rasp cold or warm. I recommend this setup to anyone who does not have a whole lot to spend and wants noticeable gains through out the power band.

Thats the setup i have. sounds pretty good. like you said a little bit of rasp only on 1st start up before it warms up.

Next is Headers and Y-Pipe.

Then i'll get some different mufflers. and leave the cats/piping alone.

Think you could get a sound clip of that for me? How much is that muffler? Sounds like a good idea!
