I am looking to sell my 1999 CSVT and I just found out there is a problem with the transmission. I have been looking on the site to see if people have had a similar problem. The transmission connection to the axle seems to be slipping from start and when turning or hard acceleration. I took it to a shop and they told me that I will probably need a new transmission. I don't want to put in any money just to sell it. If anyone in the North East knows what the problem might be or knows of someone who wants to buy my car as is for $1000 let me know.
If you know of any good shops to take the car to where it won't cost me $2000 to fix let me know that as well.
I live in Staten Island.
Thanks
Keith

Hey man, sorry to hear about that. i've been seeing you around recently too.

But yeah, what shop did you take it to?? Outside of BASIC maintenance, most shops in Staten Island have mechanics with their heads up their @$$e$. Atleast when it comes to this car!

Did they pull out the driveshafts and look at the splines on the end? also on the receiving end of the transaxle?? Sounds like that could be the problem. If you could better describe the problem that would be great. Or, maybe if you want to meet up and show me lol!

I agree with Buddy though...if the diff was broke there's a good chance there'd be pieces of it coming through the side of the trans. I mean i guess you could have stripped some of the gears on it, but again it's usually catastrophic failure. I don't think you race or beat on your car though, and i've never heard of a diff biting the dust for no reason. Sucks if it is that though, and i just gave away a stock diff too...

Any trans rebuild isn't going to be cheap. I wouldn't take it anywhere locally either. When i had my quaife/flywheel and clutch installed i took the car to downs ford in toms river NJ. It's the labor that's the killer...

wheel hop even once is enough to brake it...and brett busted his diff w/o pieces coming out of the trans

That would be great if you could meet up with Chris (TGO) and get a better understanding of what's going on.

BTW, you have a PM.

I'm not saying it can't happen, i'm saying that's normally not how it goes.

Anyway, i suppose if you want to do some of your own diagnosing you (we) could take it for a little ride and empty out the trans fluid, see if there's any "chunks." There is a magnet in there, but it won't catch everything if there is that type of failure.

But keith you gotta atleast be more specific with the description of the problem. Any funny noises, etc.

Any pics of the car? Feel free to PM me... I'm very interested. Send me a pm with the details on the car and some pics if you have any...

I'm thinking sell the mystique to pay for fixing this car? Anyone wanna buy a Mystique? :D

EDIT: Sending PM!

I guess I should have said...
In case it turns out to be more than he is willing to put into it, there are people interested.
Thanks for helping a "pimp in distress". :)
