wheel bearing question

I would not advise buying a used wheel bearing. I think Stazi sells them for a very reasonable price (pressed and ready to go). The dealers sell them too.

you can get a decent bearing at any parts store for about $40 or so ... I wouldn't go cheap on an item like this ...

i am just too broke right now to get a new one and was looking at an "alternative" way. LOL. But, I think I am just going to break down with this next check on friday and get one. The only problem with sending you my hub is that I need it to drive. :) Go figure huh. How much is it for a "core" service from you?

You need a bigazzed press. Stazi works for a bearing company, so you know he'll do it right. He's done two for me, no problems at all. But yeah, it does suck to be out of a car for a few days.

I can rebuild yours for $55 plus shipping back, if you send me you hub assembly. Buying another used one is not exactly getting a new one is it? Chances are it's either worn out or on it's way there. :troutslap:

LOOKS LIKE LAST WEEKS ISSUE. lol THIS f*#%)^&! CAR.

I GOT A METAL ON METAL SOUND COMING FROM MY DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHEEL LAST WEEK . PUT THE CAR UP ON A JACK STAND AN WAS ABLE TO ROCK THE RIM/TIRE LEFT TO RIGHT WHICH IS BAD AND WILL GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF ABOUT HOW MUCH MORE TIME YOU HAVE BEFORE THE WHEEL COMES OFF THE CAR AND YOUR DOING THREE WHEEL MOTION THE HARD WAY.

REPLACED THE WHEEL BEARING " YOU WILL NEED A PRESS FOR SURE " AND THE CAR RODE GREAT FOR ABOUT A WEEK THEN THE PROBLEM RETURNED . TURNED OUT THE HUB WAS ALSO BAD AN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED . SO I NEED YET ANOTHER WHEEL BEARING AND A NEW HUB. SO FAR SO GOOD. YOU CAN ONLY USE THE CASTLE NUT THE BOLTS TO THE CV AXEL ONCE. MAKE SURE TO BUY A NEW ONE AND TIGHTEN YOURS UP IF ITS LOOSE NOW !!! BE FOR THE WHOLE WHEEL FALLS OFF DEAL.

BEARING - 50
WHEEL HUB - 125
CASTLE NUT - 8

Yeah I had Stazi's service and that's really great. I was lucky that he had a pair at hand when I asked. So I paid a core charge, he sent that pair to me, and then I sent the swapped out back to him, and he refunded the core charge promptly. Very good experience.

When I contacted him, my pair of knuckles/bearings were nowhere near bad. However, since I was doing full suspension overhaul, I figured it would be cheaper for me to do it all at once so I don't need to pay labor twice. The labor itself can pay for the knuckle rebuild cost, without giving me the peace of mind knowing the bearings are good.
