Has anybody tried installing a 2002 Cougar center console into their CSVT?

i was thinking the same thing. dosnt it look just like a pre 98?

The 02 Cougar console has a real cup holder. Pre-02 Cougars have the same style as the pre-98 Contour.

Actually it was 00-02.
99 was the only year with a flip up cupholder like the Pre-98 Contiques.

It might fit if you had a 98 Mystique with a 5spd. The main dash drops down lower on them and the center console comes up to meet it. If you tried installing it on a SVT or any other Contour for that matter (95-00) the center console would leave a large gap between it and the main console. All of this is just of course speculation as I have not tried it myself, but just merely looked at one in a parking lot once. :shrug:

Why 98? It drops off to the same height as a Contour dash.
The only ones it would possibly fit, would be 95-97 Mystiques since they had the same style console as the Cougar.
