Thoughts?

We just moved last weekend (still have a little cleaning at the old place that we have to get done today), and our new neighbor has a Mini Cooper S.

So, of course, I had to read up on the new Cooper S that's out. No more S/C ( :( ) but it does have a T/C. ( :) ) It's a little bigger, little safer?, and seems like they've addressed a lot of the complaints from the previous model. It also gets great highway milage (EPA estimates).

I got to thinkin', "Hmmm, with a LSD, DSC, and snow tires, I'd feel safe drivin' that in the winter." But, my big question is this: Would it fulfill my desire for a fun car?

Anyone driven a Cooper S? Are they fun to drive? Heard anything good/bad about the new model? I think I wrote off the Cooper S because of possible reliability issues. Anyone know anything about these cars?

I havent driven an S, but I have driven a regular cooper. Its handling has a go-kart quality to it, very fun to drive. Just needed more power, which I believ the S should address. ;)

Baby BMW, you cant go wrong. I had only heard good things about them and they have the highest resale value of any used car in the USA. Cant go wrong with a good resale. I have not been in TC Cooper, but the supercharged one sounds awesome with an open airbox and exhuast. Its a sweet ride for sure. You wont be able to find a real bargin though. -B.

I think these pictures explain the hotness of the new mini. . I've driven my uncles non-s and it is a good little car, I think with a few mods like intake and exhaust the new S could be extremely fun. Like Kingpin said they handle like a go-kart. These are some pics from Sandia BMW in ABQ.
