i quite tired of the crappy one tone horn of my 98 svt and i want something louder !

what you guy have ?
im looking at the dual tone air horn kit from hella. do somebody have a sound clip of it ??

I love the sound of the Hella dual air! It's also very easy to swap it into the factory location while using the factory wire connector. Unfortunately I don't have a way to record the sound.

Real interested as well, people can never hear my pussy contour horn when I honk at them :nonono:

Just to avoid confusion... these are the ones you want:

You can get them from SPMotorsports... or pretty much any offroad shop will have them.

I used the OEM bracket to mount them. Also, I ran the two ground wires to a ring end and the ring went between the bracket and the horn brackets. For the power I just ran the two wires to a single connector that plugged into the OEM power connector. Pretty simple.. but my remote oil filter prohibits me from having it mounted in the OEM location, so it's no longer there.

At 110 decibles those are not any louder than factory horns, assuming you have two of them.

An alternative to nearly stock horns (but louder) are Freeway Blasters available at most any parts chain. Best price I have seen is at Harbor Freight.

Although they were louder than stock and had a nice tone, I started messing around with listening to how it would sound with three horns (two new and one old) and then with all four. I ended up mounting all four. The tone isn't that much off from stock, but it's MUCH louder.

i have a horn out of my brother's 1988 Lincoln Town Car. it's pretty sweet :)

my old cars horn sounded normal to me. i think the svts horn sounds like some dying car. yes mine is working fine. i just never use it, I'm kinda embarrassed to. lol
ha ha i just found this. its the train horn and they use it to scare people baaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha i want one. i think i would forget i have it and scare myself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP2MgvEsBVY&mode=related&search=

3 Tone FTW!

3 Tone FTW!

Saw this thread and decided to change out my horn. I picked up the "blazer horn" dual tone (pretty sure it's identical to fiamm's freeway blasters). $20 at Autozone.

Hooked it up with a relay and added the stock horn in the series.

Here are 2 sound samples. "Outside" sample was about 6 feet directly in front of the car. "Inside" was from the driver's seat with the window halfway down.

It is def. louder, but it's not too drastic. The package states these are 116 dB. They kinda have a "euro" feel to them- like listening to the car chase scene in "Bourne Identity".

Let me know what you think!

*Edit* Here's the diagram that I used for the install- the manufacturer's instructions were useless (and in Italian). The "pink" section in the pic is optional- I opted not to try it. The kit I bought came with the relay, but it's also available at Radio Shack for you DIYers- ask for a typical "automotive relay".

My first Contour got the dual tone horns from my old Grand Marquis. NICE! Not obnoxiously loud, but plenty manly. New Contour has the Hellas, I like them too but they just seem a tad irritating. I may add new Hellas to the stock horns in my Mystique as somebody here posted - just to see what it sounds like.

Oooo, I know! Two stock horns AND the Grand Marquis horns!

Who wants to buy my Hellas??
