Trans Cable Clip? Adjustment?

I was adjusting my Trans cable the other day and I was wondering what is the orange clip (the orange 'c' shaped clip to the right) and what it does. It looks like it should be pushed on somehow.

Thanks for the response. However, I did find this thread above in my search before I decided to post the question and it does not address what I am asking.

In the attached picture, there is an orange clip on the lower right that looks like a backwards "C". It almost looks like I have to push it down.

I don't remember that clip, but it sure looks like lit is out of place. I would try to push it back.

Thanks. I tried to push it back into place and it broke. Now I am having another problem. I can't get it into gear! Aw damn!

I would guess that you now need a new cable end. Check with Bill Jenkins at Team Ford in Las Vegas. He had cable ends for me when other dealers wanted to sell the entire cable.

Thanks. Will this stop me from getting into any gear? It was working with it off for a few days until yesterday. Now I can't get into any gear and I think I might have possibly sheared the gear selector pin in my shift tower.
