hi where would i find the paint color code in my 95 contour? i heard it was sonewhere around the drivers side door, but i cant find it, and i guess i dont really know what im looking for, its a combo of numbers and letters right? can anyone give me an example of a color code? and where its at?

thanks!

Its on the little steel plate on the drivers side door sill with a bunch of other info. For mine (silver frost) the paint code is just 2 letters.

does AA sound right? it says it on a little plate right beside where my shoulder would be when im driving. but it says this on all 4 doors. i have a greyish/tan contour

Its actually a little metal plate near the door latch. It will actually say "Colour Code: XX" or similar. I'd run outside and look on my car to tell you exactly but its raining right now.

looking at 95 colors, no ...

there will be a data sticker that lists the weight, build date, etc ... one of the items listed will be the ext color code ...

should look like this ...

because you use specific paint for psecific purposes ... yes advanced would have automotive paint ...

how about this would you use water colors to paint your house? I think not so why would you use home paint, made for wood and a car which is medal

my car is 12 years old, im afraid that maybe its faded a bit, and the new paint will be a darker color, is this possible/likely? and is there any tricks i chould do to the new paint like add alittle white or something?

"my car is 12 years old, im afraid that maybe its faded a bit, and the new paint will be a darker color, is this possible/likely?"
Yes.

"and is there any tricks i chould do to the new paint like add alittle white or something?"
NO.
The professionals will be able to color match and blend it to the old painted surface. For the DIY amateur (I presume you are one), just live with the "slight" change in color. It will probably blend in after a year or so of polishing and buffing. Color code "FL" = Toreador Red.

If the car is 12 years old, most people will be more impressed that your car runs well rather than if it looks good. ;)

ok cool, if its only a slight difference, thats no prob. its not like im gonna be entering it into any car shows or nothin. and do i need to add anything special before or after i paint? primer, paint, them im good?

If you seriously want this to look halfway decent.. please do your research before wasting money on paint, it isn't neccessarily cheap. Take a class at your local CC or something. You'll need at least an air compressor w/ a HVLP spray gun.

You need primer, paint, and clear. You can't just spray a few coats of each on and be done. I'd just hate to see a factory paintjob go to waste when all it probably needs is some love and a buff w/ some compound and polish.

If you are asking questions like these you are obviously far from ready to attempt something like this on your own and have it come out half way decent.

im far from attempting this on my own? haha. i painted the door on my honda and it looked damn good, i used primer and random spray paint. and it looked like it just came off the factory, no missed spots, no running paint, nothin. a spoiler will be 10 times easier than a door. the car died a few months later so i dont know how it woulda held up in the long run from using random spray paint and no clear coat.. but i know how to do it, its not rocket science, i just wanna make sure i use the right stuff.
