The svt has started that dreaded 20 minute fill up thing. I already tried ramming a coat hanger down there with no success. Should I get something longer or just try again?

Try pulling the spout out by about 1 inch, or so. Ease in to the fill at the slowest rate you can hold the handle for about a half gallon, then increase the speed in increments.

See if that helps?

I've done held it every which way possible buncha times. Been doing this for bit over a week now. I had to fill it up all the way to drive 250 miles, it sucked standing there that long. Hand got tired too. Though atleast either the car is getting good gas mileage or I overfilled it a bit (hard to tell since the pump is cutting off every half second anyways). Has around 1/4 tank left after driving that far, including some city driving and some 90mph highway cruising.

I had that problem last summer, and it has been OK since. There is a TSB 01M04 about the flapper valve . It only covers 98s, might be worth inquiring at dealer for yours if it is not a 98.

The dealer can check if the recall covers your SVT by running the VIN through OASIS. I had the same problem about 2 years ago, performed the recall, and haven't had a problem since.

It's not a RECALL, It's an ONP (Owner Notification Program) that allows for an extension of the original factory warranty to 10/100 for certain vehicles to replace the flapper valve if it is needed.

Your dealer can run your VIN thorough OASIS to determine eligibility if you are still within your 10/100 limits. If you're over the limit in mileage, it won't matter as Ford will not pay for the repairs anyway.

You're SOL on getting it covered by a dealer. My SVT did it when I picked it up but returned to normal this summer and hasn't come back. Very odd.

If your car is within the program limits and is listed in OASIS as eligible, there is no reason that a Ford dealer would not perform the repair.

I had the problem fixed on my 98 by the dealer without too much of a problem. It is possible but it can be a hassle. Seemed like they didn't like fixing a 7 year old car without the customer paying for it.

Why not just replace the fuel filler tube yourself. I know that they are like $200 or so but hey you'll fix your problem. If you can't get gas in it then you can't drive it. Then whats the point in owning something you can't drive.

Its gotta be 200 bux at FORD lol! ANymore and id go Postal on em. Get a big ass funnel and keep it in your trunk or somethin, dam. What is this flapper anyway? and how far down in the pipe/tube is it? Maybe slip another pipe down there to open it up ? and keep it open......? Ummmm..........wow.

The flapper is a flapper. The flapper is like 4 feet down the thing. Yeah there are ways to fix the problem. A pipe permanently inserted into the fill tube to keep the flapper permanently flapped is not a great idea. Umm wow
