how do i kno when my transmisson is going down the drain?

sumtimes it doesnt go into gear and it feels really sloppy

its a 1999 se with about 100000? should i look at replacing it before she goes

and what should i get done if i can afford it?

any help would be great before it lets go. should i replace the clutch at 100000 miles or let it go if the trans is ok?

Change the transmission oil, which might help with the getting in gear more easily. If feels sloppy? Maybe it is your shifter or shifter cable. If a shifter cable is not adjusted right you will get the same results as you described.
Now if the clutch feels fine and it does not slip there is no point in changing it. If you end up changing the tranny (which is less likely) go ahead and change the clutch since you are already in there.
Hope this helps.
