You sell your car and you see the new owner treat it like S*&#^!!!! I swear, when I sold my contour I washed it and detailed the inside for the new owner. Yes, he is a buddy of mine and told him to take care of her. He has not washed it or even changed the oil on it!!! Poor little contour:mad:. It makes me sad that the car is going through that. I guess people dont take care of things like the orignal owners.
Me on the other hand have been told my cars when bought from previous owners look better than when they sold them to me. They have even asked if its the same car.

Reminds me of the dude on here a while back who sold his mint Cougar to some 17 y/o jackass who totalled it 3 weeks after the sale. :nonono:

Shameful.

Why do people care so much what happens to their cars after they sell them? Obviously you sold it to have nothing to do with it..so why care about it? Just never understood it.

Not always true man you dont know why he sold it. Could have needed the money at the time. If you took good care of the car you feel more invested in it and you want to see it taken care of. I think thats probably why he feels that way, Just my take on it any way. Thats how I'd feel about my Contour if I sold it.

Do you have a conscious? Do you care about anyone but your self?
I know being young...and absent minded can occur...but are you really just going around and objecting to each persons thread.

Not true at all.

I sought out the new owner of my last car on maxima.org but received no replies. I've always been curious how the car has fared since then, and I have tons of documentation (window sticker, maintenance and service receipts) that might have been useful for them.

And don't get me started on my first Contour. If I knew who owned the thing today, I'd offer twice its value just to have it back. I sold it only because I didn't have the means to store it at the time.

I do care about others than myself..i just thought it was a good question? Its a car, it can be replaced.

I really don't think that you realize how much blood, sweat, tears, and of course MONEY that some of us have into our cars. You grow attached and you take care of the car. Just because you don't need it anymore or whatever you reason may be, and you sell it, doesn't mean that you don't care what happens to it.

Thanks for answering my questions instead of trying to start something. I really mean it.

Kind of like what you did  But i bet....you questioning the man is completely different right. lol

I thought it was common knowledge for people to understand the reasoning why people get upset when they lose things? I honestly thought you were being a prick.

I can't imagine why you would think people didn't care about a $3-5k material possession they own? Unless they are spoiled brats and have no idea how much effort it took to buy that certain something?

I dont want to come off as a dick but serious enthusiasts like most of us on here make up a minority in the used car buyers segment. Therefore most people are going to look to our used cars as economical transportation. So in a sence to them it's impracticle to keep your daily beater in tip top shape, or they just dont really care because the vehicle is 10+ years old:shrug:. I would love to to keep my svt waxed without any scratches or dings and detailed inside & out all of the time, but I dont time to wash it every other day with working, runing a LCO, buying a house, and keeping my vehicles running. With that said I wouldent exactly consider my car show quality on a good day either:bah:

With that said I can sympathise. When my dad took over my old jeep Rubicon he drove it like a kid in a riced out honda and went about 20k miles when i steped in and changed his oil for the frist time since he started driving it:troutslap:

At least one of yours is going to a good home and wont see over 3k :)

This is why you have to try hard when selling your vehicle to
1. not sell to friends/family
2. not sell to anyone on the forum you frequent
But that's only if you know you'll have a hard time seeing how the new owner treats it, or don't care to be pestered by the car's new owner for maintenance help.

Can't agree more on that statement.

LOL. Very true generally, but I know for a fact that the friend/forum frequenter that I'm selling to will baby and overly-maintain my car more than even I ever would.

The exact same thing has been said to me about my SVT from the previous owner.

...and the car was in fairly good condition when I bought it from him too. :D

Yep she's babied now.

That's one of the main reasons I've sold my last two Mustangs out of town. It's always hard to see them running around, even if they are being taken care of well. The time you spent driving, the fun things that were done with it. Kinda like a "significant other," happy to see them go but on occasion you don't want to see them with someone else.
