rear upper O2 sensor replacement

that should work or you can get the O2 sensor socket. they also make O2 sensor sockets that are off set to help with access. might be worth while, might be able to rent the tools also.

thanks

thanks

OK - that's good to know. Normally I would have used the loaner kit from AutoZone but the how-to stated there wasn't enough room to use a standard O2 socket.

I think the loaner kit also comes with side-grabbing jaws which may be the best way to proceed here.

You don't want a long handles wrench. There is not enough room to swing it. If a box wrench is the tool you want to use, you need a short handled one.

Here is the tool I recommend:

Possibly this one would work:

Also, the proper size flex head gear wrench would probably work:

You must remove the coil and work from the top to disconnect the sensor wiring, but I found it easier to access the sensor itself from underneath.

No matter how you try to prepare yourself, this is a job that will probably teach you some new words.

I bought a Home Despot Husky 22mm offset box-end wrench and cut the handle short. Worked great.

In addition to learning new words, I would also recommend having a quantity of bandaids available that is equal to the knuckle count on one hand.

If you buy a short handle wrench (or cut it down yourself) can you still get the torque needed to break it free? I remember the one by the radiator was very tight.
