Am very curious to find out if anyone can point me in the right direction on how to change out an ignition cylinder on a 98SE (ATX)!? If there is any specialty tools needed in doing so? Should I plan on calling my car an asshole now or later? Is it as much fun as removing a cat that some schmuck welded together:nonono:? Any help would be SWEEEET!!!

the main ignition cyclinder is easy to remove. remove the shrouds from the steering column. then if it has PATs remove the antenna from around the cylinder. with the key turn to the first possition. on the top or bottom, I don't recall at the moment there will be a button you press and hold as you pull on the key. the cylinder will come right out.

Not to sound like a complete dedede, but whats a PATS? And the ignition is frozen (won't turn at all), pulled switch on bottom of ignition got power windows up, car started, but lock on steering wheel still engaged !!

PATS is the...crap.... something with a P "anti theft system" aka PATS. Its why the black part of your key is a gigantic monster compared to other keys. There is a microchip in there that sends a signal to the car when you start it. In theory, the car isn't suppossed to be able to be hotwired but nothing is foolproof.

You changed the switch.

Now you need to change the ignition lock cylinder.
