Cell Phone Ticket

So the other day I got caught in a trap. I had pulled my phone out for two seconds to call my mother and they had a spotter and then were stopping everyone who got caught doing something wrong by the spotter. I didn't argue the ticket when I got it, but can anyone think of a good excuse to get out of this god damn ticket. It is going to be more than the one minor accident I had. Plus I do not have $200 right now.

So any excuses are welcome!

That doesn't work around here. There was a guy that used that excuse, messed his pants, got the ticket and then went to court to fight it.

Not only did he announce in Magistrate court that he had to poop but he also appealed that decision and took it to Common Pleas court. He announced in front of about 80 people that he was speeding to get home to poop and got pulled over, messed his pants and that he was embarrassed. The officer testified that the man had passed two service stations so he could have stopped, the man said: "I wanted my own toilet". He was found guilty.

The whole court room was trying not to laugh hysterically.

The only thing you can do is have a hearing and ask for some leniency. Tell the officer and Judge that you won't do it again. Did you know that the law was passed?

Of course. :censored::censored::censored::censored:ing NYS is a bunch of douches. I hate them so much, I just needed to ask my mother an important question and was literally on the phone for 20 seconds. So I think I am just going to go in and plead guilty unless I come up with some good excuse. Maybe the cop won't even be there. That'd be the tits.
 
The cop will be there. Why not try to make a deal or ask for leniency? Can't hurt to try, you might just luck out and get something less or get it dismissed.

I forgot you were in NY, their ban has been in effect for a while now so you would know.

Get a bluetooth or something. ;)
 
yah.... new york police are dbags. i got pulled over by an unmarked cop in a small crappy college town. i spun my tires slightly. the got pulled over. he didnt have a printer in hsi car to do the ticket. so he called a regular cop. as the unmarked cop left... he smoked his tires... stopped and laughed with the officer and i still got the ticket:nonono: :censored::censored::censored::censored:ing cops

Haha the sad thing is I have one and just didn't bring it and was calling for 20 seconds and that damn trap got me. He wasn't nice. :( I cried a little. :cry: I was searching for a job. :( And my car was the only car that got pooped on around me.

I know Im not a "NE-CEGer" but I had to jump on this. If the spotter doesnt show up to court ALSO who is to say you did it? The ticketing officer, which is different from the spotter, I hope, has to show up to court. From my experience, both officers have their names and badge numbers on the ticket. If not; tell the judge the officer who pulled you over didnt see you do the offense. Good luck.

Do that before you plead guilty, always ask for mercy.

OMG you are a savior I just looked at it and only one cop had his name on it. !

Not so fast. The cop that wrote the citation has to have his name on it but the officer that saw you does not necessarily have to have his name signed on it. He does have to be in court though since he saw you talking.
I was going to PM you about that issue since it would make for a long message, there is more to it than both cops showing up. I will still PM you with more info in a bit.

I'm speaking generally here as I am not in NY.
