So I picked up this sub and box for $69.99. I walked into cash converters just to browse; I didn't need anything and I saw this setup for $69.99. I instantly knew something was wrong and realized it was priced for a 10" Type S not a 12" Type X. So I bought it and it sounds great. Low and behold I get home and find the proper price tag deep down in the vent for $259.99.

The box is 1" mdf and has the tough gaurd finish. It sounds amazing.

Here is the amp rack although I have to make a new one because I'm only putting 500rms to this sub so I'm getting a nicer alpine amp w/ ~1000rms.

WOW that is one hell of a sub for that price. They need a ton of power though. Only bad thing is the are kinda muddy sounding.

How hot do those amps run? Most amp manufacturers don't reccommend to mount not horizontal. I would like to put mine in a more enclosed space, but it gets so hot it seems better off mounted on the box.

WOW IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY
i have owned 3 of the type x 12 in my tour last summer
i was running a hyfonic brutus 2000 watt mono block powerplant
as to sounding muddy must not of had enough power to it
this is by far the best alpine sub ever made....alpine even states that and i took 1st and 2nd place in a local stereo comp last summer hitting 151.3 db
with these 3 type x sub...great find by the way

Can't wait to actually get started on building my new stereo... this makes me want to get going on it... very NICE!
