Cam Removal - pump pulley shortcut?

When pulling cams for head removal, could one leave the water pump pulley and cam seal installed, simply unbolt the seal retainer from the head and (after chain and cam bearing removal) lift out the cam / seal / retainer / pulley as a unit?

Seal isn't leaking and same cam is going back in. Call me lazy but there is already more dissassembly on this job than I would have ever believed was necessary.

No need to have it pressed off. Just replace valve cover gaskets.

yep unbolt the "retainer" from the block with two bolts. just make sure you replace your valve cover gaskets like stated above, and put a little bit of RTV on each spot where the block has a "split" in it upon reassembly.
