But she lives. I was coming out of the Woburn Mall and must've run through something because I've never had the rear kick out like it did. I ended up over correcting and hitting another car coming out of the offramp.

I think had I just let it spin out I would've been fine but I tried to save it. Apart from the cosmetic damage the car is perfectly drivable albeit the drivers door needs some coercion to open. We'll see how it plays out. Either I take a trip to Holland's or they total it based on age/price.

It was an 06 Elantra. I say "was" because I hit her front 1/4 and pushed her into a curb which snapped the pass wheel off the axle. Looked pretty banged up but repairable.

AWAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

at least i think its repairable. and you werent hurt, so that is a plus.

if they do end up totaling it and you decide to junk it, take the spare tire, center caps, grill, and the spot light.
they are hard to come by and can be worth a little cash.

but i highly doubt they will total that.

I honestly hope they don't. I was going to patch the rot along the runners this Summer. So hopefully after I replace the parts she gets a fresh coat out of this.

Well, at least you nearly destroyed the other car in the accident:shrug:. Might as well go all out, right?

Good luck with the repairs!

oh that's rough! :(
The rain was crazy all day today; totally understand the rear kicking out unexpectedly.
Glad it's still drivable at least!

It couldn't have been just the rain. I had to have run through something because I've driven it in the rain plenty of times and it never behaved like it did. It acted like I hit a patch of ice.

We'll see what happens. I feel bad for the lady I hit. After I pulled the car over I had to climb out the passenger side. When I ran over to see if she was OK I had to pry the door open cause it was pinched w/the front fender like mine.

Got the damage appraised today. Guy said that even based on the age they might total it out (tho he said there was a lot of damage). I'll find out Friday. He did say it's worth a lot more because it's an ex cruiser.

Car still drives straight so it doesn't seem like there was any frame damage. What will happen if they total it is I'll buy it back and fix it. Pull off all the damaged pieces to inspect it better, Elky and I can have a field trip to Holland's for parts, I'll fix it back up and get a Macco paint job.

I don't see the parts running me more than a couple hundred. Paint job will be that $400 one they offer (same color). And any left over money will pay down my credit card.

sounds like a plan.
i think the worst part of it will be if the radiator support is mangled.
can you get a picture of the support with the hood open?

that will require a decent amount of work to replace. but just the hood, fender, header panel, and lights won't be too bad.

The radiator is untouched. There's a black bar that runs in front of it thats been kicked in but I'm unsure of what that was for. The light frame looks to be straight as well.

The brunt of the crash was the bumper going into her wheel well/tire.

the black metal thing the radiator is attached to is the radiator support.
if its not bent too bad you might be able to pull it back into place.
otherwise the fender and header panel wont bolt on properly

Well, I was told if I got no phone call today it means they were going to total it. A closer inspection revealed there is some slight frame damage up front. Ugh.
