My 6 year old Motorcraft battery is on its last legs. New ones don't come with the handle anymore.
Sears Gold and Napa batteris also don't have them anymore. How cheap can you get.
Anyone here replace their battery lately with one that has a handle?

Some Optimas do

Advance Auto Parts. And the handle can be removed just before installing the clamp.

Thanks for the replys. I just don't want a made in China battery. A friend of mine says thats where the batteries Autozone sells are made.
I'll have to see if I can find an Advanced Auto store is near here.

I have bought two batteries from Sams club. Both had handles and both are still going strong. No idea what brand they are...but are cheap and work well.

Autozone's batteris are made by Johnson Control....those are the good ones...just like sears...advance, adn some others.

I would stay away from Exide....I have seen MANY MANY go bad!!!

Why do you even need a handle? Planning on taking the battery out and carrying it around every day?
100 percent secure "security system". Can't start the car, can't steal it. In addition, I think eepals is building his pecs for the upcoming World Arm Wrestling contest.

Good one Tony, I was going to answer CSVT### question along the same lines you wrote.
The handle makes doing any maintainence much easier , allows you to put the battery in with one hand, while pushing the cables out of the way etc.

Those with Pre98s know exactly what you mean. The hood rod is on the battery side when left in a vertical position. Without a handle, you have to lift and put battery on "radiator top area", then maneuver right hand around the the hood rod to position the battery in the tray. :blackeye:

The hood rod was redesigned to be on the washer fluid reservoir side when left in a vertical position for Post98s.
