Significant wind noise at speed

I had my cowl off a few weeks ago to adjust my firewall-mounted coil pack, and I went ahead and added some caulk to the area where the windshield seals directly in front of the driver, because I'd been dealing with some minor wind noise since buying the car. After reattaching the two cowl pieces, the wind noise is significantly louder. Like enough to disrupt conversation in the car louder.

In addition, I had been working on the same thing a month or two ago and ran out of time to put everything back together, so I drove the car in the rain with the cowl pieces just sitting on the car, not screwed down. Since then, I've noticed the HVAC air often smells damp, and I saw the lightest dusting of snow on my dashboard this morning.

Suggestions on either or both of the problems?

I get wind noise at speed but from the driver side door. I think it's a bad seal or something but it bugs the crap out of me. Sounds like the damn door is open sometimes!

This is most likely from the cabin air filter. With the cowl cover off the wind just blows into that area and would allow water into the filter too. Remember most people don't even this filter is there and never change it.

my 2 cents,
AF

Would an auto parts store carry a spare filter? I pulled it out last weekend and it was pretty dirty and didn't smell the best. I couldn't find a replacement filter at Wal-Mart, Fram didn't have one listed in their book IIRC.

Just got one for Autozone Sunday 7700 and guess what they dropped the Bosch. As of two weeks ago according to the manager. Got STP brand seems just fine $17 bucks. Nothing cheap at Autozone & Advanced. Sure wish Ford would have put a little thicker plaasitc when they made the Cowl screen as FORd parts calls it. The hole nearest the passenger side end was thin on the orginal and the warranty replacement one. Course Ford didn't plan on us keeping these for so long. Not are fault it was such nice drivers car bang for the buck vehicle. Too bad Ford had to join the stupid SUV craze IDIOTS>
