Superbowl

oh yeah, I did put some vegetable oil in it too.
It definitely wilted.
I made it in an 8 cup mixing bowl, and it condensed down to about half that.

I just skimmed backward and realized I didn't post the recipe that I used.

For ours, I merely used cooked black pastrami, although I was tempted to add bacon in. Our grill has a side burner, so Mike cooked the pastrami outside so as not to stink up the hizzy. ;)

I used frozen shoestring fries and cooked them in the oven til they were crisp.
I hate oil frying in my kitchen. I'm too much of a sloppy cook as is, so oil splatter just makes things worse.
Perhaps someday I'll buy a deep fryer thing like TGO has.

nice find on that recipe, I searched forever for something close & couldn't find anything, I'm keeping that one. I think the problem I had was that I didn't let it sit long enough, making right before I prepared the sammiches. My buddy at work grew up in New Castle, PA & his friend, who's owned several bars over there, claims to have bought the original recipe from them, but won't give it out.

My favorite is capicola & occasionally corned beef...I certainly wouldn't turn down a pastrami

I don't care for frying in the kitchen either, I can't stand the lingering grease smell in the house, I use the side burner on my grill outside if I have to. I used to use my deep fryer in the garage until it took a :censored::censored::censored::censored:. Fresh cut fries are awesome. Oven fries are great in a pinch.

Have you ever had an original Primanti? Panini's in Ohio is a direct knock-off.
