Well some stupid person in Blaine, MN who doesn't know how to drive her 2005 Chrysler 300 slammed into the side of my wife's brand new 09 Mazda3. First off everyone is fine so no worries there. However the car you are looking at only had 1352 miles on it :nonono:

She was in the far left lane of a 4 lane highway going East bound and the woman in the 300 lost control of her car (going to fast, idiot) and slid into her at a 45deg angle causing my wife's car to do 3 360's skidding her car across all 4 lanes of traffic before she was able to bring it to a stop on the South side of the highway with her car facing West to oncoming traffic. It's amazing her car was only hit once and no other cars were involved. Also I'm surprised that the damage to her car isn't more extensive. I think if it was hit any more to the rear damaging the B-pillar it would have been totaled.

Anyway on with pics.

The other person's insurance is paying for all of the repairs as well as a rental car, but I'm just pissed because I'm sure the car will never be the same. Not only that we now have a loan out for a car that is no longer worth what the loan is for... I'm going to see if I can get a lump sum for diminished value once the car is fixed as well to help offset the drop in value. On that note has anyone ever had an accident with a car this new? I'd be interested in any suggestions on how to go about with dealing with this.

it looks liek it's just the door, which is purely cosmetic. i wouldn't worry about the car not being the same. there's no frame damage or anything like that. that's where you would probably want to unload the car and get a new one.

also, kudos to your wife. looks like she's a pretty damn good driver!

It looks like there's damage on the rear door too towards the bottom. Or is that just buildup from winter dirt?

Dude!
Mike that :censored::censored::censored::censored: sucks ass!

Sara got hit last year after ownings her 3 for less than 3 weeks! Less than 800 miles on it. An Old lady slid into her at a 4 way stop and rear ended her.
Her insurance covered it all, including the rental.

"The first thing she said to my wife was 68 years of driving, and ive never had an accident!"

i replied... Shoulda stopped driving 10 years ago!

Anyhow, car looks the same, but i know how you feel. I do believe your damage is a bit more extensive than ours.

Hopefully its just cosmetic door damage but if it made her spin it may have flexed the chassis as well. Keep us updated!

Everything he said about the value of the car is true. It :censored::censored::censored::censored:ing sucks. I had a woman back into my at a stop sign when I had a little over 1500 miles on my 09 Cobalt SS. I still haven't gotten it fixed...

It looks like winter dirt.

Good luck with the whole ordeal.

Yup, it's just winter dirt. I washed off the front part of the rear door and the rear part of the front fender to look for paint damage. There are a few chips/scratches which will need to be fixed. The rear door seem is bent a little bit from the front door being pushed into it, but nothing serious.

by the pics, it's looks like just swap the doors and your ready to go. but could be worse.

That's what I'm hoping. I can buy two brand new door shells and a front fender for about $1600, all OEM parts of course. We'll see if I can persuade them to pay for them all so I don't get stuck with 'repaired' parts.

In any case there should be someone coming to the house Monday to assess the damage. Probably going to use LaMettry's Collision. They're a certified Mercedes repair shop and my brother who is going to a school for Autobody repair/paint says he hears they come highly recommended. So we'll see, I'll keep you guys posted.

Just to be damn sure... I'd have them throw it on a laser lined frame straighteners just to be sure that the car suffered no frame issues, and have it on the alignment machine to make sure the suspension/alignment didn't suffer from high speed 360's... be the only other thing I'd be having double checked... besides obviously getting the car fixed...

First good thing your wife is okay! And as mentioned kudos for keeping the car on the pavement.

Now to business, if that car did three 360's would be pushing for a full inspection of the vehicle. Frame, suspension, hell even traction control/brake parts. Especially since it is brand new. Hell if those were at high speed you could have done some nasty motor damage from oil starvation. Get everything checked even the tires! probably have bald squares on them! Good luck with the insurance company. Hopefully the driver of the 300 got a nice nasty fine for shunting another car into oncoming traffic. :nonono:
