Since many of you live here, and have experience with SVTs, I thought that it woud be nice if you all could share trusted/cheap shops where svt/contour owners can take their cars without worrying that mechanics will break one thing while trying to fix another...which always happens to me. It seems like these cars are not the easiest to work on, and although I try to do most things myself (with the help of contour.org), other people might not have the time, conditions and will to do all that.

Ohh, and does someone in N.VA, DC, MD knows a place where they will gladly do the y-pipe optimization. I went to several places and they all looked at me weird, like I was nuts...hehe. oh well

Midas (at Exxon) at corner of Washington Blvd and Lee Highway in Arlington. It is 2 blocks from the East Falls Church Metro. Not really sure if I would consider them cheap. Plan on dropping it off early and picking it up close to 6 PM (closing time) or the next day. They do not schedule appointments. I have only used them for mechanical stuff and oil changes.

Royal Service on Quaker Lane at King Street in Alexandria saw all three of our Contours (one Zetec ATX, one Duratec ATX, and one Duratec MTX) on and off over a few years' time. They did some pretty in-depth work, and were willing to look at the service procedures that I'd print off of the CEG site. I don't know if they'd do a y-pipe optimization (they said once "We're really not into doing mods", although I did convince them to put on an auxiliary ATX cooler), but I liked them.

I would suggest one of the guys on the board and doing an exchange. You buy an optimized one and then send back your with a core refund of some kind.

Well, who does ypipe opt. so i can exchange mine with an optimized one, with a core of some kind, like you suggested. If you know a CEGer I can PM would be nice. Unless someone else knows a place where they have done theirs in the past. Thanks.

BTW, you can keep going with the list of shops, so other CEGrs can check where would be the closest and most trusted shops near their homes.

Post in Duratec Maintenance or try one of our services guys.
