Ringing endorsement for these!!!! My first set...

A ton of the S60 people are talking about wheel balance...the big opennings make it easy to collect snow. Some have had problems with the wheels freezing to the brembos...

I didn't even notice that! Maybe they are growing pot..

The tires on the S60, are the Hancooks? I have Hancook winter I-pikes on my Jetta and they look just like them. My car is like a tractor in the snow with them.

BTW. If you treat the wheels with silicone or teflon spray when they are clean before a snow storm snow and ice won't stick.

I can't wait till my Subaru's OEM tires are worn down enough to justify some decent all-seasons.
screw this - dedicated snows now. The SVT's brand new all-seasons (got yesterday, same size) will go on the Subaru after spring.
Any idea where to buy Nokians? I don't see them on Tirerack. Just trying to get an idea on prices.

matt you will be very happy with dedicated snow tires.

maybe check discounttire.com. they have some other brands that tire rack doesnt.

also I have been more then happy with the dunlop graspic ds2 snow tires I have and they are reasonable in price.

I would also get some cheap wheels or steel wheels for the snow tires. it isn't the best to keep mounting and unmounting tires from what I understand. plus it makes them that much easier to change over yourself and they will take up the same amount of storage space.

I did that for my car. I got OEM wheels at a junk yard for $50 each. Now I can change to the snow tires by myself. Plus I have a set of 4 spares if something happens. The local tire shop charges $16 per wheel to take off the summer tires, put on the winter tires and then balance. I figure that the wheels will pay for themselves in 3 years.

I tried nearby nokian dealers. $180/tire .. no thanks, lol. I'm trying to keep it under $150. discounttire.com didn't have them in my size (215/45/17). I might resort to Blizzaks .. which of course is not dissatisfactory.

the dunlops I mentioned would be a great bang for the buck purchase ...

Try the Hankook W300 Ice Bears 205/50/17 V-rated--absolutely awesome tire.
I've never had a snow tire but these are great and still have nice handling like a performance all-season.

I'm pretty happy with my Bridgestone Winterforces, and they are CHEAP. I got them for $50 per tire...You can take a look this weekend at the tread design if you want...

I ran those on my 2nd SVT and run them on the Explorer. Great tire for the price. I used Blizzaks on the SAAB and those were great but the Winterforces, for the money, are the way to go.
