Elderly Gentlemen makes an illegal u-turn and t-bones me

At first I thought it was just the doors

After further inspection the rear door does not line up

Yay, damage to the pillar :nonono:

First words out of his mouth "Sorry this is my first accident in 61 years"

After a few seconds of me throwing my arms up in the air and letting out a *sigh*

He says "Can I go pee?"

OMG!! That sucks man. I hate to see T-reds get into fender benders. If you need anything to rebuild just let me know.

Old people are so funny.

Man that sucks! That is my worst nightmare.

On a side note, the comments from the old guy were classic:laugh:! Since you aren't on my local news channels for destroying an elderly man I feel like I should say you handled yourself pretty well considering.

wait can i go pee? wtf? please tell me you got a police report....can i go pee down South means "im drunk. this sucks. i gotta pee, after i piss, we'll take care of this accident"....damn old people....i hate driving up here in the "north"(EGL) people cant drive for shyt up here hope ya get her repaired

i know this is gonna sound redneck like me but have pushed pillars back out for alignment with a port-a-power. just remove the front seats and the interior trim on the pillars, place the port-a-power cross from one to the other and jack away. may have to reposition from the bottom of the pass pillar to the top but should work. since it will want to spring back you may want to push beyond where you want it and then release. trial and error method. use a piece of wood on both ends to protect the metal finish.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me a few months ago with my T-Red, the old guy told me he never saw me..

Good Luck

Vic, very sorry to hear this. But from the photos it doesn't look to bad, buy back and repair if needed?

i can't really see in the pic if the b pillar is damaged...the reflection is messing with my eyes.

however, the rear door not lining up is most likely the hinge for the door being tweaked from the impact. the pillar is a pretty integral structural component and while it may have a dent in it, i doubt it's pushed out of alignment.

one word of advice, push for new doors man. i had a very similar hit on my old svt and i'm telling you from experience, if you let them pull out the dent they'll never get the body line near the bottom of the door perfect again. never. and it will eat away at your very soul like it did mine until you pay out of pocket to replace the whole door.

if the insurance company gives you a hard time, then get the check and go junkyard hunting for a door and get it painted. cause replacing the skin will never be perfect either. but have your body shop fight for new doors first.

Little update, his insurance company called me today. They are taking full responsibility.

I have the option to let them fix it at one of there (recommended) shops or any shop I choose. Needless to say I have no clue what there going to do at there shop so it's going to mine.

I'm still worried. If you look at the last pic, you can see the side skirt is straight. But the bottom of the pillar/frame is not.

Also the drivers door can't be re-skined there damage inside the door.

What a "recommended" shop means is that the shop is in their repair network. And that they usually have a frame machine, paint booth and whatever else is usually needed all in house. The shop pays a little bit of money up front and gets put on the list.

Either way, don't let them tell you it has to go to a shop of theirs to be repaired. That is against the law and still happens.

I've seen worse stuff than that come through my dads shop and come out looking brand new again. Yours should not be a problem for a competent shop.

i see it now. but my sideskirts always bubbled out in the middle. that may be magnifying the problem. i do see what looks like deformatio where the black grommet is though. still, it's probably only on the surface.

also what a recommended shop means is that they will take the cheapest way out on everything. insurance companies are businesses. their goal is to take in as much money as possible and pay out as little as possible.

ALWAYS take the car to your own body shop and have a qualified person write up the estimate and speak o nyour behalf to the adjuster..otherwise you will get nickel and dimed on everything and end up with work you're not satisfied with.
