Do they make a decent block heater for the Zetec? Anyone use one? It's getting to be "that time" here and her majesty's Subaru does much better with a block heater for those days that it hits 0 to -10F for awhile. This is my first winter on the 'Tour and I thought I'd ask first before I searched tarnation. T'anx!

Thanks. The Subby has one that screws in the bottom of the engine and works great (except for her majesty's tendency to back out of the driveway without unplugging it). I'll look for the screw-into-bolt-hole one mentioned.

Well, go figure the in-line hose unit won't fit. The unit is about 4" long and the Zetec lower radiator hose makes a couple of bends but the longest straight piece is about 2" long. Good thing I test fit it before I cut my lower hose for installation. That would have been a biyatch. Back to PartsPlus.....

Well, it's an iron block (unlike my old escort) so a magnetic heater would work. Anything else is gonna take some work. A true block heater replaces a freeze plug. There's those that go in a heater hose, which are underneath the intake manifold and behind the engine. That would be your best bet.
