HAs anyone used a good windshield repair shop in CT? I'm going to get the car registered this week, and need the windshield fixed ASAP!!!

I just need name, location, and PHONE NUMBER!!!

Thanks alot, people:cool:

What needs to be done? Replacement windshield or reparing a chip?

Is the car insured? I had mine covered entirely under insurance. The repair was done by a mobile van in the parking lot at my job.

The car is insured, just not for glass (as far as I know); my parents are taking the hit on this one. The windshield has a jagged crack in it about 4 feet long.. It needs to be replaced:laugh:

We're just gunna have a mobile do it in the driveway. Thanks for the help:cool:

Did you buy this car from out of state? I registered mine with a broken glass.
Though I do plan on having it replaced in the springtime.

Nah, it was bought right here in C-Town about 9 years and 5 months ago. My parents want it replaced before it hits the road again. I think they're just using it to stall to be honest:laugh:

Any answers yet?

As far as pricing I'm not sure as I've had most all of mine done through insurance. But I have used safelite before though a different branch. I would say most all National chains would be a good choice.

there are no inspections for cars that are being registared when they have already been registared in state. hell out of state cars don't need a safety inspection, just emission. I posted this for you some where else ...

I think he's trying to say his parents won't let him drive the car with a cracked windshield.

As long as his parents are paying for it, as has been stated ...

Exactly
Call a NOVUS Auto Glass center. They are the absolute best at repairing windshields.

They are in every state.
I don't know if I've seen any in CT, and I've looked a few places. Thanks alot for the tip, though. I'll let my dad know:cool:

your parents might want to doublecheck their insurance plan because it may be covered and then they won't have to shell out any extra dough.

If you knew my parents, you'd know they've done that a few times:laugh:. It may be covered, I just haven't been updated. I do know that they pulled the glass coverage before we put it in the driveway

Even if it's not covered under insurance, it's only about $150-180 to get replaced.

I can't recommend any particular place though. My insurance has covered it both times it needed replacing on my SVT. I gave my agent a call, they put you in contact with a shop they work with, and the rest is just setting up an appointment.

Just wondering, Does Ford still make glass for our cars? If so, can we specify that the replacement co. use OEM glass if using an insurance claim?

thats a good question. Let me take alook at the windshield on the mystique when I leave work today. it was replaced by my insurance company but i don't recall if it is OEm or not. It does have the AS1 markings as I recall and the solar tint at the top like OEM.

Both times I had my windshield replaced, they used another brand of glass. The last one was PPG and I can't remember what my new one is.

When the original windshiled cracked, I called the glass company, and specifically requested a Ford Solar Tint windshield. They said "Sure, we can do that". They came and replaced it at my house and I ended up with a PPG winshield.

Carlite is the only auto glass manufacturer that is dedicated to an auto manufacturer; in this case, Ford. At last check, the Contour windshield was still being manufactured by Carlite. In fact, the shop I used to have mine replaced deals only with original Carlite glass when servicing Fords. I don't know about older stuff, though.
