I have a 7/97 contour with a 2.5 v6 motor and yesterday i swapped the uim for the svt uim and it left the negative battery cable off for at least 2 hours. after everything was put back together and done it ran great. I drove it for probably an hour with no problems. I brought it home and parked it and this morning it acts like the throttle is stuck open at like 3600 rpms. I reset the computer again by leaving the negative cable off for at least 30 minutes and it just revs up to 3600 rpms every time you start it.

you have a leak in the lines or intake manifold gasket was not tq'd to spec.

Please go over all the vacume lines intake hoses etc etc. Then make sure you tq'd the intake manifold down following the specific bolt pattern guide.

yea i replaced the gaskets with new ones. the green vacuum line running to the egr valve broke so i added a section of rubber hose, I'll check to see if thats on all the way. should i just loosen the bolts and re-torque them?

No i didnt swap the iac, but i did try putting a new tps on it and that didnt change anything. i looked into the throttle body while it happens and the throttle plate is all the way closed.
