thanks but just a stock 2.5 replacement. i do not want to deal with 3.0. please respond to my original question as i do not want this to get off topic and become a 3.0 discussion. It is showing 13.5 hours but is that realistic for a shop?
I have a regular 2002 2.5L V6 engine with 2000 Miles (3000 KMs) on it if you are interested. If you live near London, Ontario, Canada, I'll install it for $1500 for you.
If they charge $90/hour labor like the dealerships do, your looking at about $1200 for install. I'm sure any shop will take longer than that though that isn't familar with the duratec. Call it $1500 to be safe.
Don't forget to throw a Spec clutch on it while it's out. You could send the car to me to do a 3L swap. Still cheaper than a 2.5 and shop to do it. I don't even know where one finds an SVT 2.5. Rare as hell.
car-parts.com found one in westland with 108K on it for $800
But anyways you could look for a standard 2.5L and swap over the majority of the SVT components and effectively have an SVT engine with the exclusiuon of the SVT pistons.
But the Cams, intake manifolds and injectors are where the most power comes from.
