Last week Ford Racing had the new Cobra Jet out for testing. Because they were just testing, they weren't displaying or recording ETs or MPH for the runs.

Here’s the press release on the car

I was there with Ford Racing's GT Convertible. The car has their 400hp Super Pack, shifter, FR500S Axle-back, X-pipe, shorty headers, and 3.73 gears.

sweet, but at 3300 pounds I wouldn't say it's lightweight:shrug:also a 6 speed doesn't seem like the way to go for a drag car that's a lot of rowing

Do you really think he will use all six gears in the 1/4 mile? Most certainly not with 3.73 rear gears.

Well it's being developed specifically for this, so someone thinks that its a good idea for a 6-speed...Six gears seems like a lot of work to do, and would cut into the all important consistancy factor..

Looks like that 400hp out of a s/c 5.4 is very conservative.
Also looks like you have a cool job.

:help:Do you guys think at all before posting or do you just not understand much about drag racing/Mustangs/NHRA?
3300# is lightweight for the s197 Mustang chassis.
6-speeds are never used for drag racing, at least all 6 forward gears are never used for drag racing. This car is designed for NHRA classes and would need powertrain components to match current production offerings.

I am pretty lucky

Exactly, NHRA requirements are also the reason the car will be rated at 400hp.

I would also think the s/c 5.4 would have a nice advantage in average power (and especially torque ) at 400hp.
Say hi if you ever see me at Milan, I plan on running True Street at the NMRA race in June (I know its Ford employee day and you guys race at the show) and my brother and I go to T&T alot.
