Well the time has come. With only 1400mi on the Mazdaspeed's odometer in 2008 it was time to get somthing the whole family could enjoy. A four door toy with pep. Behold our 2005 Volvo S60R. 300hp, 295ft/lbs of torque, 6 speed manual, all wheel drive and active suspension (comfort, sport and advanced). Titanium paint, aero package with Nordkap (Dark blue) heated leather, sunroof. 18" rims, Micheline Pilot Sports. Nearly every option except navigation (which appeared out of date in 2005. This car screams and yet its safe.

Looking forward to a wash, claybar, polish and several layers of Zaino. Come winter it will be put on stands and I'll go thru the suspension and detail the brakes (Brembo BTW). I've fallen head over heals for this car.

I will miss you Mazdaspeed, I already regret never being able to drive you again.

beautiful Volvo!
congrats on the purchase

i can't believe the miata only had 1400 miles on it, i thought you guys drove that all the time?

aaaargh. u beat me to it. that's the car i'm planning on purchasing also. had a little setback. but am almost there. i wanna get it cash. hate car payments! my only gripe with that car is that volvo or should i say ford, should've placed exhaust exits in the other port as well. it looks A-symmetrical without one. when and if i do get that car, that will be the first thing i'll do. great lookn car. silver looks even better:drool:

Thanks guys. The Mazdaspeed had 18,500mi on trade in, only put 1,400mi since this time last year. I actually like the R without the body kit, but it appears it was a $2200 option so it'll stick around for now and it's really growing on me. I could always trade someone without the kit for the base level trim.

BadSVT have you decided on a year/transmission pack age yet. There was a CPO 2004 S60R, Silver/with silver trim, 6speed manual, 18"s with 69Kmi at Mitchell Volvo in Simsbury (which is where I bought mine).

yep. thats it. how could u not like the body kit!? that thing looks awesome. i luv it. AWD goodness:drool:. cant wait to get it and start modding away. can i please have the website to this dealership? am guessing at 69k, they wouldve dropped the price a bit:shrug:

nice. i was looking over on the volvo forums also. i believe i saw that picture also, as there are very rare s60Rs with dual exits. turns out that its very very difficult to fabricate an exhaust that exits @ both ports cuz of the way its set up under there. but it has been done obviously. looks like it might cost a bit of money to do it.

Just search Volvo S60 and hunt thru. They want $18,900:

If you don't mind the titanium I was considering this one for a while. CPO with another year left on the warranty (or to 100,000mi), has Nav, 18"s, 45,000mi for $18,900:

i was wondering why it'd be that cheap. it doesnt have the bodykit. i just looked it up. this is the one i was thinking... silver trim:)

The 04 silver is sharp with the black/charcoal plastic bump strips. It can get overwhelming with the painted body kit and bump strips on the '05+.

Sooo jealous!!! :drool::drool:

That's honestly the next car I'll be buying. I was on the hunt for one when I was shopping for the BMW but the prices haven't dropped enough for me yet. I cut myself off at the $15k limit and I couldn't find an 05+ with the factory ground effects in that price range.

Congrats on the purchase!

Congrats!!! It's a beautiful car. I agree with you about the body kit.
I love my sister's base S60 2.4. So many options, great handling and the seats are incredibly comfortable. Can only imagine what the R feels like behind the wheel.

It's amazing you've had the same license plate since the PGT. (I've gone through five plate numbers, over five cars in five years  )

Nice pick up. Congrats.

The R was definitely something we were trying to get into, but we got impatient trying to find the one we wanted, so we hopped right into the MS6.
We still consider ditching the MS6 for one from time to time.

It took a while and several states worth of searching before I found one that fit the criteria. It has a few stone chips in the hood but I should be able to fix them with some touchup paint and some detailing.

I'm a bit under the weather today, otherwise I would be out there preping the surface for wax. Perfect weather out there.
