Air vents Won't Change

Last night I was changing out the Head Unit in the car and after I completed the task that Climate control will no longer change the vent output. It is currently stuck on defrost vents. It will not change to dash or floor. The AC will still kick on and so will defrost. Fan speed is working as well as temprature control.

I have noticed two strange things. A coil spring appeared on the floor where none existed before. I also found a large lightbulb on the floor as well.

Anyone have any ideas on why the vents will no longer change and where the spring and light bulb could have come from?

I also had the glove box pulled down to access the speaker wire connection by the internal amp.

Thank you very much for posting that. I know exactly where that line is. I was looking at it when I changed the radio and thought it was part of the factory system becuase it was very close to the line outs from the HU to the factory amp.

yeah this just happened to me today....but it's not the vacum solenoid under the dash. i'm going to check out the vacum lines on the intake manifold but i dont know which one it is so i guess i'l have to look around in there. anybody got a clue, if its neither one of those?

Look for the one which goes into the firewall.

As in goes to the firewall from under the dash or from the engine bay. I am suffering from this and my dashpot is all plugged in correctly. What color is it and is it on the passenger or drivers footwell?

Well, I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone, but the one that broke\fixed mine was orange, in the driver's side, under the hood. It was the right half of a teed connection right next to the IAC valve. Mine was cracked, taped it up and AC vents work fine. Hope that helps.

I just pulled the 2 hoses off the dashpot then put them back on, found 1 under the passanger footwell and pushed it up with the butt of my screwdriver and all seems to be working. Can't say which it was, but knock on wood, it fixed it! :)
