Battery light goes on and off....

my battery light goes on at about 3000 rpm and turns off at lower rpms. i thought it might be my alternator going bad but i had it checked at autozone and they said that the alternator and the battery where both working fine.

any advice would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

My advice is to first not return to Autozone, even for the replacement alternator.



Secondly, your alternator is likely the culprit. That light will probably begin to flicker at lower and lower RPMS and eventually stay on all the time. Do yourself a favor and save the money to the side for a NEW alternator, or at least a rebuilt MOTORCRAFT one (not an autozone brand, etc)

well i didn't buy it from autozone, knew better than to do that. i just wanted them to check it.

thanks, i guess i'll just start looking into a new motorcraft alternator; wait are they still making new ones? or will i just have to get a remanufactured one?

Dont assume that just because the alternator checked out at autozone its actually good. Take it to a shop that specializes in alternators, starters, ect and have them look at it.

HAHA I remember doing that with you. AZ said the alt was fine til we took it to the other place....good lord that was a long day.
