Didn't know if this was right place or if needs to be in Common Intrest,please move if wrong.Just need to know how hard it is to remove and reinstall a clutch kit out of a 89 Tempo with the four cylinder.In process of swaping a zetec out of a wrecked cont and into a good cont and don't want to get into and PITA job.Also can anyone tell me if I am correct in thinking that is in the clutch,pressure plate and bearing that is bad on the car.Car starts fine in neutral ,push clutch in and then try to put it in gear then it grinds.Strart car in gear with clutch in and sometimes it grinds and kicks it out other time its just make a little noise.Once moving you can not shift to other gears without forcing and causing a lot of grinding. TIA

It sounds like the clutch hub is rubbing against the flywheel for one of the following reasons;
1 the clutch linkage or fork is damaged.
2 the clutch is installed backwards.
3 the wrong clutch was installed.

Many years ago I did a clutch job on a Tempo. Everything was fine until about 20k miles, and then the clutch would do what you described. Pulled the clutch out and I could see marks on the hub and FW where they were hitting. Picked up a new clutch and compared them. To my amazement the old clutch had a slightly bigger hub and it did not fit inside the FW. Same part #, same supplier, wrong part.
