Hard-core CEG'er
Not sure who all goes where for insurance around here, but stay AWAY from The Precept Group!
Had to go with these jokers as they were giving the gf the best deal around. She made some very stupid decisions and got caught, so her insurance went through the roof. These guys were one of the few that would actually take her on.
Right out of the bat the insurance goes up 60 dollars a month because I was on the policy as a second driver and because I moved down here. Not so much of a big deal but it would have been nice if they would have said the amount would go up since I did tell them I was moving before any money changed hands.
So, for another year or so nothing out of the norm occurs. Except for the stupidly high rates. Well than after the 1 year was up, they switch us to another insurance company without telling us or asking us. Mind you I didn't mind too much since the rates went down by almost half. (Though I was still annoyed they could just switch carriers like that)
So, now to more recent times. I had been trying State Farm to get her covered, but since she was such a 'risk' State Farm would not cover her. Well finally, when I got the Contour, they were able to get her into some coverage (also helped she got some life insurance as well, I bet!) so I tell her to call the Precept Group and tell them to cancel the insurance. Well I guess they did not believe her as a couple days they called and said that they would need a letter to make it 'official'. So off goes a letter saying that the insurance is well indeed to be canceled. Well holy crap! You'd think that someone bought these guys out cause all of a sudden I am getting calls everyday from them saying they were able to do some calculations and get a lower rate. (So how come when we called before we talked to State Farm they could not?) I tell them, thanks but no thanks, you already had your chance.
Well guess what happens? The gf comes to me and tells me that they still went ahead and tried talking money out of her bank account. Though because she paid for the State Farm policy, there wasn't enough to cover the other withdrawal, so we get hit with a NSF fee.
What burns me is that they said it would be canceled for the end of July. If there was any outstanding amount (say a fee for early cancellation of a policy) they would send us a bill/refund for the amount. Which it should be a refund as we paid a deposit at the very beginning and it is way more than the monthly bills were at the end of the policy.
So I call hem up today to see what the hell is going on and the lady tells me that it takes 3-4 WEEKS for a policy change to take effect. Funny thing is that my gf called them at the beginning of the month to cancel and faxed over the letter a couple days later. Not to mention the agent which I spoke too never said anything about a 3-4 week wait. The lady on the phone also tells me the letter 'downloaded' just on the 30th? Where the hell was it for almost 3 weeks? On someone's desk?
I know it seems a little much for a small $35 NSF charge to possibly a $135 charge (how can I be charged a fee for early cancellation if I never actually signed anything to endorse the coverage?) But it is just the piss poor communication and broken promises that have got me angry. The lady on the phone today said that I would be reimbursed for any charges that occured after I said I wanted the policy cancelled. I asked if that would include the 35 dollars for the NSF charge. She says 'NO.' We will see about that.
