That is your EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve.
 
If you don't mind an emission MIL code, I wouldn't even bother with it.

What exactly are you trying to do --- put a 05MY Escape UIM on a 2.5L contour?
 
My guess would be that he's got a 3.0 and wanting to put (or already is starting, thus the 3.0 sig) an 05Escape 3L in his SVT but wanting to mock up the already existing EGR to the UIM of the 05 for emissions compliance, or to avoid a MIL.

Tomorrow I'm doing valve covers, fuel rail, COP system, and UIM. I was hoping to do injectors and IAC valve also, but bagged decided not to send me the parts I paid for. I've read some good things about the EGR system and I'd rather just keep it the way it is.

There is nothing good about EGR. Get rid of it.

Has anyone done back-to-back dyno tests with/without EGR? What about fuel economy? Before I delete the system, I'd like some solid proof that it's a good idea.

the egr is not going to make any difference on the dyno as its shut off at wot ....


its only for emmisions, it adds octane ...
 
The car will run ok w/out it turned off in the tune if you can't get it done right away. as Brapple said, it is off at WOT and the computer adjusts everything under cruising... you will just throw a CEL for DPFE and EGR.
 
Oh, and that's a given. I've never been able to get a hold of anyone at NPG for anything in less than 3 PMs and 7 days, not to mention actually getting anything done.


you do know that Tom is over seas and Joeys job take him away for days and possibly weeks at a time? Otherwise Joey is very quick in communication ...
