I know I need to clean out the EGR system, but I'm looking for tips from those who have done it.

Obviously the passages around the throttle body and the EGR valve and between the two need to be "reamed out", but what about the tube from the exhaust manifold ? Any other areas to watch out for ? Recommended tools ?

Remove the throttle body. It will be obvious what needs cleaning.

Nothing else needs to be messed with (assuming your engine failed the vaccum-to-EGR-valve test but the valve is working properly).

Tube from exhaust may have a restrictor plate with a small hole in it somewhere below the DPFE hose attachment point. That plate may seem to be tube stopped up, nope, it's supposed to be there.
