Heat retention due to paint on an engine or on a trans case is insignificant.

Thanks for all the comments guys, good and bed. The whole setup should be going in next week. I got the trans put back together tonight with the new shift forks, synchros and a torsen, and yes, the case is painted black as well. Just have to install the new clutch and flywheel, a rear main seal, and change out the waterpump pulley I tweaked in a careless moment, then the wngine and trans get bolted together. As luck would have it, my alternator died monday too, so I guess a new one of those will be going in too. Better now than a week after it's all swapped.
