Subframe Bolt is Killing me!

never really heard about the front ones getting stuck. there has to be some sort or access hole somewhere. you could cut the bolt and then remove the nut and then replace with new hardware maybe.

Thats the part that sucks, there is no access hole. Maybe tomorrow ill try and put some weight on the sub frame in hopes that it will pull on the nut allowing the bolt to turn. Ill let you all know tomorrow afternoon. If that doesn't work I'll have to cut a hole.

Cutting a hole isn't a big deal at all. I mean, you have that feeling in the back of your mind that it'll weaken the structure, but it totally will be fine. Just cut the hole, it makes it so much easier.

Jesse, if misery loves company, you'll be glad to know I'm having the same problem with the rear bolt. What did you end up doing?

there is no access hole in the front, cutting a hole is your only resort. i fell victim to this three years ago during my swap. just have a plate welded over it later.

actually, in the thread to which BoSoxBruin linked they describe the option of cutting a hole in the passenger floor. i might do that instead because it wont' weaken the structural integrity as much.

That's if it's one of the REAR bolts. The OP was talking about a FRONT bolt.

I spun a rear bolt when I was dropping the Cougar sub. There is a spot under the carpet on the floorboard where you can get to it with a minimum of cutting.

When I had my clutch replaced the trans shop hacked up the side wall of that channel and left it :blackeye: because the nut broke loose and was spinning like you stated.
Looks like crap. Try to go through the floor if you can.

is it possible to drill a hole just as big as a plier or a screwdriver to hold the nut?!
