Try taking that allen out. I dont have that on my lock out though. I have a metal lockout, Im at a loss then

heres what you want to do. as you can see in the 2nd and 3rd pics you posted, there is a hole in the reverse lockout. take a small punch or screwdriver and fit it in the hole. then use a socket and a c-clamp to press the metal bar out. remove the punch and then, using a small flat head screwdriver, pry out on the tab and pull up on the reverse lockout. this will remove the plastic piece, however the reverse lockout is still in place. you have 2 options to remove it. the first is to just take the mteal tab that is in the slot, pull it up, bend it over and tape it to the shifter so it is up all the time. the second option is harder but will allow you to put the plastic piece back on if you want. remove the black boot that is around the shifter on the floor, then use a set of snap ring pliers and remove the snap ring. pull up on the shifter to remove it. now take the shifter to a bench, pull up on the metal tab in the slot and cut the cable. pull the cable out the bottom and go reinstall the shifter. If you want, now would be a good opportunity to cut the shifter down to make a "short shifter". only cut off about 1-2" if you do this though as anything more is too short.

If anything doesnt make sense, take a picture of where your stuck and i can point you in the right direction.

alright, i got it off, now i'm just lost as to how to make the car reverse worthy... so by cutting the cable after the shifter is off, it will eliminate having to pull up on anything?? i'm kinda confused...

if you pull the shifter you will see a little ball on the bottom of the shifter. this ball hits a piece of metal when going to reverse unless you pull up on the cable, raising the ball and clearing the metal tab. you can either pull up on the cable and tape it to the shifter or cut the cable and remove the ball and cable.

there is a much stronger lockout in the transmission that will keep you from going 5th-> reverse so dont worry about that.

i found its much easier to take out the shifter and remove the cable and ball than finding a way to tape it, i also cut off about 2".

yeah i already did this to mine.it was the exact setup as you have there.take a punch and like they said tap it out and remove the c-clip.then it should pull right off.then just remove the plastic lock ot reverse retainer.then choose the shift knob of your choice...i actually found some round momo's that were really comfortable.but there pricey.i spent like 85 for mine...but i got a key ring with it....lol..

well i've been lookin at the leather wrapped ford one for a while and liked it cuz it matched my steering wheel cover and floor mats, so my gf got it for me for our 2yr. anniversary.
