i'm installing new lcas and my passenger axle popped out. i think it was the tripod popping out. someone in a previous thread said "Be careful with the halfshafts once you've removed or are about to remove the A arm. If you accidentally pull the tripod bearing out of the cage you'll have to remove the complete halfshaft and have the boot removed to fix it."

i gave the hub a subtle kick and it popped back in and the knuckle then went on the new ball joint fine. i spin the hub by hand and it turns along with the other side hub. i can see the intermiate shaft spin when i spin the hub. pop it in neutral and only the one side spins so it seems to have everything lined up. the inner cv boot was stretched slightly and i didnt see any change where the tripod housing is close to the intermiate shaft so it mustve been inside the boot. the knuckle hole was maybe 1/2-3/4inch out past the new ball joint shaft so the kick put the axle back where it should be. could the tripod snapring have popped out and now is loose inside.

i dont have time to pull the axle or even a replacement axle nut now if i were to pull it.

i have to do the driver lca (wont jack up the strut this time when popping the bj out). can i drive it for a week and check it next sat?

i'm hoping i got lucky and didnt pop anything off

if the boot didn't come off you should be fine.
if it makes funny noises when turning, then its fugged up, but from the looks of things, you should be ok.

You'll notice right away I'd imagine. Will make a noise. I've seperated insided the boot and just set it back in. Everything was ok. Hopefully you're as lucky.

test drove it this morning. seems good. no noises at all from the passenger side. i'll give it a few days first before getting it aligned
