:nonono: On the way home one day i decided to race against an older grand am 2 door. I have the 2.5L V6 mystique, and i got blown away by the pontiac. Should that happen?? What are some easy upgrades to add to the care. It is completely stock, but i still think it should have bet the grand am.

Mine is a 99 and the grand am had to be something close to a 96. What are secondaries, adn how would i know if they were opening??

they are butterfly valves in your LIM (lower intake manifold) why you get in the neighborhood of around 3600-4000rpms you should feel a little more power. That is the easiest way to tell if there opening. Other then that I am not sure. I could tell right away when mine stoped working. If you take the plastic cover off the motor that says like 2.5 duratec there is a box bolted to the valve cover and that is the IMRC (secondaries controller) if they are not working that is the cause... or your LIM UIM are just crazy nasty. You should also clean your LIM UIM and TB (throttle body) there is a how to in the old forums I believe. As far as cheap and easy to install performance mods well it depends on what you consider cheap. To me there are no cheap mods for this car but the lowest in price would be (intake, exhaust, y-pipe mod, Headers, underdrive pulleys (not sure about these as I dont have this mod) Here are some websites of places to get some stuff

www.trubendz.com
www.spmotorsports.com
www.batnic.com
www.msdsinc.com
www.mirko.com
and I am sure there are more but I just have them saved in favorites. The best mod you can do BTW is a 3L swap....

...and this site is anti-road-racing, so I suggest you don't post about it.

But try what was suggested above. And for actual modifications you can do to your car, check out the 2.5 Duratec Section in the old forums.

You should of said anti- street- racing not road racing. By the way that is a hypocritical statement because everybody that drives a modded car has done it at one time or another. It's like talking about self gratification: 50% of the people admit to doing it and the other 50% lie about doing it.
